Specific categories of trust office are exempted, such as trust offices providing services to object companies that are investment institutions, and lawyers or persons recovering claims professionally or commercially. The different categories of exempted trust offices are listed in the Exemption under the Act on the Supervision of Trust Offices (Vrijstellingsregeling Wet toezicht trustkantoren).
Exemption from the licence requirement

Any party wanting to be active in the Netherlands as a trust office on a commercial basis must either hold the appropriate licence from DNB or be exempted from the licence requirement.
